Landmark Tokyo Tower Turns 65
Tokyo Tower, one of Tokyo's most iconic landmarks, celebrated its 65th anniversary on December 23, 2023. The tower, which is officially known as the Nippon DenpatÅ (Japan Radio Tower), opened on December 23, 1958, and has since become a symbol of the city.
Standing 333 meters tall, Tokyo Tower is the tallest self-supported steel tower in the world and is three meters taller than its model, the Eiffel Tower. The tower is used for various communications purposes, including broadcasting, and also has two observation decks that offer panoramic views of Tokyo.
In honor of its anniversary, Tokyo Tower held a special illumination event on December 23, 2023. The tower was lit up in the colors of the Japanese flag, and a special message was displayed on the tower's observation deck.
