YouTuber adds Australian Open qualifying win to fairytale rise

Jules Marie is one step closer to making his main draw debut at a major and not just as a hitting partner. The 32-year-old saved a set point en route to a 7-6 (7-3), 6-3 win over Alexander Ritschard in the first round of Australian Open qualifying on Tuesday.

Marie, who is ranked No. 495 in the world, is a YouTuber with over 1 million subscribers. He has been training with some of the top players in the world, including Rafael Nadal and Daniil Medvedev, and has been using his platform to share his journey to the pros.

Marie's win over Ritschard is the latest in a string of impressive results for the Frenchman. He reached the semifinals of a Challenger tournament in France last year and has won two Futures tournaments this season.

Marie will face Benoit Paire in the second round of qualifying on Wednesday. Paire is a former top-20 player who is currently ranked No. 170 in the world.
